Questions for 1 John 2:18-29

1 John 2:18-29
1. What do you think that John means when he writes that “it is the last hour”? How would they know that it was “the last hour”?
2. How were the antichrists made manifest or revealed?
3. In 1 John 2:22, John mentions another one who is a liar. What is this liar guilty of? Please also list the three other verses so far in 1 John that refer to types of liars.
4. What are some causes for people in the New Testament to believe and follow false teachers (see also Acts 17:21, 2 Timothy 4:3-4)? Please explain how we have the same problem today.
5. What is John’s answer to the problems we discussed in question 4 above found in 1 John 2:24-29?
6. If we abide in the Son and the Father, what is promised to us?
7. Why was John writing these things to the Christians at that time?
8. John writes about their receiving “an anointing” in verses 20 and 27. See if you can determine what that anointing is and if we can receive it also.
9. What is the ultimate outcome of “abiding in Him”? What if we don’t abide in Him?
10. How can those who are born of Him be identified?
